Sienna has many strengths, but honestly, posing pretty for the camera is not one of them. She wants to be out in the world! Having experiences! Sniffing things! Chasing tennis balls! You can't do any of those things if your Doggie Mama has you in a sit and stay and is constantly clicking this thing in your face but ISN'T THROWING ANY TENNIS BALLS. You see her point?
So in a freak occurrence last summer at the dog park, Sienna was actually posing pretty for me (well, she had dirt caked all over her tongue, but she is an Adventure Dog) for this long stream of photos when she heard something behind her and I managed to get this random action shot. I'd have to say that it probably captured her character better than all those unnaturally still ones of her - even though you can't see the ever-present mud.
It's amazing how much a place can change in a month. At the end of September the landscape was beautiful: clear skies over mountains just dusted with snow, bright yellow on the slopes from leaves changing hue from green to something more violent, and on the ground were vivid trees all around. Now, at the beginning of November I am already surrounded by a frozen, hibernating landscape; the trees are barren, the moutains snow-white, the lakes one massive sheet of ice. Everything has changed so fast that it makes these photos, taken less than six weeks ago, seem horribly outdated. They're getting posted nonetheless, if for no other reason than to remind me of that beautiful season gone by -- and to remind me to teach Sienna how to do this trick once more hospitable weather has returned!
